For a week of "down time" between two family visits, we managed to stay pretty busy. This weekend had a lot of fun activities to keep us occupied, between the Fishers Freedom Festival and a visit to the Royer's farm.
This week had its low points, but it certainly had its high points, too. We've frozen a bounty of strawberries, David is learning to swim, we enjoyed a lovely weekend, and got to spend some time with Nate and Suzanne at Oliver Winery in Bloomington. Bread, cheese, wine, brownies, wine, and some aggressive geese...what better way to spend a Sunday afternoon?
We took a day trip to Muncie on Saturday for a little Indiana history at Minnetrista and then enjoyed some friends and fun at the Zabel's house for Jamie's second birthday party. Lots of kids, lots of laughter, and lots of sugar, whee!
We enjoyed a cultural experience at the Speedway on Friday and were caught in between being offended by how much everyone was drinking and wondering why they weren't offering us any. David liked the cars, though. Saturday we went to the 500 Festival parade because last year was such a hit. We baked in the sun but enjoyed all the floats and police officers on motorcycles. Emily, in particular, enjoyed the car with Helio in it. Sunday, for a change of pace, we picked up the Kellers and visited Fair Oaks Dairy Farm. We ate lunch there, and were unaccustomed to the amount of cheese on our plates. David, unimpressed by the miracle of birth, preferred the outdoor big bounce to watching a calf enter the world. Monday's day off provided a good opportunity to putter and rest.
After being away and working straight through last weekend, we earned some time doing nothing. So of course, we stayed busy this weekend, between the Broad Ripple Farmers Market, a bike ride/skate on the Monon Trail, movie night (homemade pizza and Shrek 2), another bike ride SUnday morning while Chris made Mother's Day breakfast, a hike in the woods (which David calls "camping" and thinks our main goal is to find deer...good luck), a lovely afternoon nap, and some awesome beef ribs, we still had very little checked off on our to-do lists by the time Sunday evening rolled around. And it was awesome
