Ready to Roll

We were so very eager to take advantage of warm(er) weather and played outside as much as possible this weekend.  After what seems like months of grey, gloomy weather, it was such a blessing to see the sun!

Wow, what a weekend!  For weeks we've been using Sara and Kevin's visit as motivation for David to behave, and it seemed to work (most days). Team Sherry arrived Thursday night and was thrown head-first into life with a four-year-old. David went to his first movie (in a theatre). As much as I wanted it to be something poignant and memorable, alas, we had to settle for Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeaquel. At least David liked it. Saturday morning we took our lives in our hands by going to Monkey Joe's (a bounce place) at lunchtime on the weekend.   Note to selves: never again.  But again, as usual, it was really all about David and he had a ball.  After we all napped (though none of us for long enough), we headed downtown to "dinner at a restaurant". Another note to selves: anything with the word "monster" in the name of a food product should maybe be avoided. Thank goodness our brisk walk over to Lucas Oil Stadium afterwards for the MONSTER TRUCK RALLY helped us walk it off a bit.  But just a bit. David didn't know we were going to the Monster Truck Jam, but between Sara and Emily, they both managed to keep it a secret until we actually got there.  David was thrilled, but spent the entire time holding his earplugs in his ears. I think Kevin came home the real winner, though, since the evening ended with a bonus demolition derby. It was just lovely to have visitors this weekend.  These winter weeks seem to last forever, so it's good to have something to look forward to.  The house seemed pretty quiet this afternoon after we got back from the airport.  Hey, you friends and family: come and visit us!  We'll eat lots of carbs and take you to really classy cultural events!
Nothing fair weather about it

With Jake and Toby's birthday party as motivation to behave, we had a pretty good week and a fun time at the Zembrodt's.  Saturday morning was a big ol' muddy mess, but that's what rubber boots are for, so we had fun playing outside while the weather was tolerably warm enough.  But what these pictures don't show is the Sunday afternoon we had at our house.  The Kellers and the Ingalsbes joined us for homebrew and hollerin'.  It was all blue around these parts (including Emily's fingernails), and it paid off.  We're Super Bowl bound (well, we're not, but the Colts are)!  We're looking forward to a good week ahead, and stay tuned for one or two pictures of David and Aunt Sara next weekend
